Description
We offer young female which are called Pullets that have passed the baby chick stage and no longer need a heat source in most cases.
We spend a great deal of time providing for a successful first 6 weeks of life because this is when the foundation for the future laying hen is established.
The nice thing about getting young pullets at this age is that they will become very comfortable with their new owners and usually can be extremely calm and almost a part of the family.
6 to 12 weeks is a nice stage of growth, and this is when they will almost double in size.
Most breeds will start to lay in the 18th week but depending on the breed, time of year and climate some pullets may take up to 24 weeks to lay there first eggs.
Started pullets is a great way to begin a flock if you prefer not to take the risk of getting roosters at the local farm store and if you don't want to go thru the chick phase of brooding them.
